WHAT IS IOWA ACACIA?

Our Story

Through a variety of philanthropic and social activities, Iowa Acacia stands for the ideals of brotherhood, the search for truth, and the desire to serve others.

Since April 17th, 1909, members have upheld these values through academic success, philanthropy, character development, and relationship-building skills. Our members are actively involved in many campus, service, and brotherhood events throughout the year, allowing them to create lifelong bonds and consistently give back to the community

Re-founded in 2015, we are steadily growing and making an impact on campus. Of all fraternities with a housing structure, Acacia charges in the bottom quartile of membership fees in order to be financially accessible to all potential new members.

Acacia strives to create a strong brotherhood that will last the test of time. We value our medium-sized chapter of ~55 members, allowing us to foster a tight-knit brotherhood while giving us the size needed to make a tangible impact on the community and provide ample opportunities for our chapter.

Additionally, Acacia currently ranks consistently in the top quartile of fraternities in the area of scholarship and community service. In the fall of 2019, Acacia raised the second-highest amount for philanthropy out of any other social fraternity or sorority on campus. We are proud to continue our Acacia Claus event, which raised close to $5,000 for the University of Iowa Children’s hospital, next fall, aiming to double our prior fundraising total.
